We will now send local action alerts and event notices separately from the Digests. Digests will continue to bring You as much Good News as possible from sources we’ve used for years: Jill Stein and the Green Party of the US, Reader Supported News, Truthout, Democracy Now!, AlterNet, Daily Kos, as well Lincoln Journal Star, Nebraskans For Peace, and other local sources. (We’ll also bring you less than good news when it seems necessary, but You can always find that elsewhere.)

Action alerts have sometimes gotten lost in the mix of national news and commentary. Thus, the change.

Using the INDIVISIBLE model, we need resistance to be collective, constant, and local. We hope this change will make it easier to stay aware of local actions and events that need Your support.

Tune in all day on Saturday, January 21, as we “Inaugurate the Resistance” on Facebook Live and here on the Jill2016 site.

You resisted the neoliberalism of Hillary Clinton and the neofascism of Donald Trump. Thank you! The resistance against Trump and the failed corporate two-party system continues even before he is inaugurated, and will continue afterwards as well.

The recounts in MI, PA and WI helped to reinvigorate the movement for election integrity. We will continue to fight to ensure that every vote counts.

In addition to the recount we are resisting corporate rule through protest.

On January 20, we will join thousands of people and organizations from around the country in Washington DC to Occupy Inauguration, sending a message to Trump that we reject his dangerous presidency from the very start.

NGP State Council Meeting Sunday, Jan. 15, in Lincoln

The monthly Nebraska Green Party State Council meeting will be Sunday, January 15, at 7 p.m. Location is The Coffeehouse, 1324 P Street, in Lincoln. The agenda will include the ballot access drive and other business.

“For Greens, political revolution means supporting front lines of struggle from Black Lives Matter, to pipeline blockades, ending immigrant deportations and bailing out students. It also means fighting Sen. Charles Schumer’s corporate tax break proposal as well as the Trump-Pence agenda. It means offering a Green alternative to neoliberalism, white supremacy, and the two-party political establishment that made the election of someone like Donald Trump possible,” said Dr. Stein.

Nebraskans demand that their State Troopers come home from North Dakota

Nebraskans who don’t want this state’s troopers responding to anti-pipeline protests in North Dakota slid a wad of petition signatures through the Governor’s Mansion gates Monday.

The two petitions contained names of more than 29,000 people calling for Gov. Pete Ricketts to bring the troopers home, said organizer Joseph Hams, a 21-year-old University of Nebraska-Lincoln student.

“At the very least, I hope he recycles them,” Hams said of the petitions, joking. He added, “I hope that he’s moved by how many people were offended by his actions.”

Thousands of Nebraskans along with people from other states and countries signed the online petitions, one started by Hams and the other by Bold Nebraska.
