WACHISKA AUDUBON ANNUAL POTLUCK . . . The Wachiska Audubon annual awards program and potluck will be Wednesday, April 8, 2009, beginning at 6:15pm. The event will be held at Van Dorn Villa 3001 South 51 Street, Lincoln. This year’s Earthkeeper Award will be presented to Lincoln environmental activist Foster Collins. Following dinner and awards, Alan C. Kamil, director of the School of Biological Sciences and George Holmes Professor of Biological Sciences and Psychology at Un-L, will speak on the cognitive abilities of birds.
OMAHA PEOPLE’S FILM FESTIVAL . . . There is a People’s Film Festival every Wednesday evening, 7:00pm, at McFoster’s Natural Kind Cafe, 38th and Harney in Omaha. PROGRESSIVE OMAHA MEETING . . . Saturday, April 11, 2009, 6:00 to 9:00pm, Progressive Omaha will meet at 4924 Chicago, (the corner of 50th and Chicago) in Omaha’s Dundee neighborhood. A potluck will be from 6:00-7:00pm. The guest speaker at 8:000pm will be Tristan Bonn, former Public Safety Auditor, addressing the current status of a Public Safety Auditor ordinance, and other City issues. Progressive Omaha is an organization that provides information, education and support to progressive people and groups through website outreach, speakers bureau, a weekly film festival, calendar of events, and monthly meetings.
