A simple step parents can take to prevent their child from being contacted by military recruiters is to download, fill out, and submit the following two forms:
This LPS form should be filled out and turned in to the school office at the beginning of each school year. Be sure to check the ‘military recruiters’ checkbox. LPS is legally obligated to release student contact information to military recruiters upon request unless this form is submitted. The form can be filled out and signed by either the parent or the student.
The JAMRS form should be filled out and mailed to the address provided on the form. This step needs to be performed only once as long as the student’s mailing address does not change. The form must be signed by the parent or guardian if the student is not yet 18 years old.
See the What Can I Do page for more steps that can be taken to help prevent the undesired military recruitment of our kids.
Above all, talk to your kid. While not completely up to date, this link provides some good talking points.
