Lincoln Electric System<\/a> (LES) customers may fill out a survey expressing preferences for LES\u2019s proposed $1 million dollar Sustainable Energy Program. LES isn\u2019t promoting this much, so every vote will in effect speak for thousands of customers. Under \u201cother suggestions,\u201d you might consider urging a rate plan that rewards conservation and penalizes higher electricity consumption, a moratorium on building\u00a0coal-fired plants and no increased purchase of electricity from coal-fired plants. Green Drinks<\/a> is a global, self-organizing network providing informal meeting opportunities for anyone working in, studying, or just concerned about environmental issues.\u00a0 This month\u2019s Lincoln Green Drinks<\/a> is December 19, 5:30 pm to close, at Lazlo\u2019s Brewery & Grill<\/a>, 210 N. 7th Street.\u00a0 The Pollution Prevention Regional Information Center<\/a> has 2008 calendars to gift Green Drink attendees.<\/p>\n

DEMOCRATIC PROCESS MALIGNED . . .<\/p>\n

U.S. Representative Dennis\u00a0Kucinich<\/a>, the clearly anti-war candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, was\u00a0excluded from the Iowa Democrats\u2019 debate forum Dec. 13 on a technicality that was NOT applied in the Republican\u00a0debate.\u00a0 A few months ago, Clinton and Edwards commented about the necessity of excluding \u201cdisruptive\u201d candidates from debates.\u00a0 The other major candidates offered no protest. Respond to this\u00a0insult to the anti-war majority of American voters with a letter to the editor of the Des Moines Register<\/a>.<\/p>\n
